Selected excerpts add Scroll To Text function
inThe second issue of e-newsletter This feature was introduced in. Now if a webpage appears in the featured snippet, the user will be automatically brought to the featured snippet text on the webpage by Chrome and marked in yellow when clicking on it.

This feature has attracted some controversy. Although it is very convenient for readers, for the website, the article will not be read from beginning to end. If you wantExit this function, the webmaster can add it in the HTTP HeaderDocument-Policy: REDACTED。

Chrome 84 will block HTTP loading image resources
is inThe fifth issue of e-newsletterThis update was introduced, but it was later delayed for some reason, but this feature will finally be released in Chrome version 84 (expected to be launched on July 14). If the images on the website are HTTP, Chrome will automatically upgrade them to HTTPS. But if HTTPS fails to load, the image will not be loaded.
Mixed Content is a very common problem in SEO, especially when images are provided through CDN instead of being placed in the same domain. The webmaster only remembers to install HTTPS for his own domain and forgets about the CDN server. It is recommended that you take some time to check the website for such problems.

Fun Fact: SEMRush sells guest articles and links
In addition to providing SEO tools, SEMRush also has a less-known service - selling guest articles. Users can pay to have their articles appear on SEMRush's website, and links back to your website will be inserted into the content.
Someone asked John on Twitter if he was OK. John's answer was "Even if no money is paid, the link on the guest article is against Google policy. If there is a link, you should put rel=nofollow."

Marie Haynes interviews John Mueller
Marie is a well-known figure in the SEO industry. The topics discussed in this video interview with John include the quality of links, the quality of content, manual intervention, EAT... etc., which are quite diverse.
At about 32:16, the text content on product or category pages of e-commerce web pages is discussed. Many times it is written for SEO. This content is often buried at the bottom of the web page. Without these words, only some pictures and navigation functions will be left on the web page. In this video, you can also see John's views on this phenomenon.

DataStudio Template - Analyze GSC Data
This template is free and written by Hannah Butler. The second issue of e-newsletterhas introduced the template she provides, and this is a more advanced version. There are many cool charts and interactive functions in
, but after actual testing, the data processing speed after being applied to a large website is a bit slow, so you can decide whether it is suitable!

Recommended articles in this issue
In the future, I will start recommending several good SEO articles that I have read recently in each issue of the e-newsletter, mainly in English. The recommended articles are all articles that I feel I have absorbed new knowledge after reading, or I want to save them for future reference!
- JavaScript SEO: What You Need to Know (by Patrix Stox)
- Introduction to PageRank for SEO (by Barry Adams)
- The History of Search Engines (by Carl Hendy)
- Optimize Website – Page Experience – Core Web Vitals (by Samuel Schmitt)
There are still more than 20,000 new cases of COVID-19 in the United States every day, and everyone continues to stay at home. After chatting with family and friends, I realized that the news media in Taiwan have stopped reporting on the epidemic and have switched to other things. I am really sad and envious!
The e-newsletter subscription function is in full swing! (Actually, the author is too busy and doesn’t have time to work on it), but subscribe quickly so you don’t miss the latest news on digital engines~
