Google Question Hub launched in the United States
introduced in the eighth issueQuestion Hubcollects questions that users have not found satisfactory answers to on Google (users can ask them directly in the search results); content producers can also use this platform to see those questions that do not have good answers, and use it to produce and submit their own articles.
Friends who run English content websites can give it a try. It is a good resource for thinking about article topics.

Passage Ranking does not change search appearance
Another "fragment information retrieval" that also appeared in Search On, Danny also stated again that this update only affects rankings (About 7% of search results) does not affect the appearance of search results and has nothing to do with featured snippets.

This misunderstanding is due to the pictures used by Google in the presentation. One is a normal result and the other is a selected snippet. However, Danny also admitted that this is not a good diagram. The purpose of this picture is to express that fragmented information retrieval can capture more selected results that answer the search intent.

Gadget - Display Google Trends data directly on search results
"Trendstastic" is a free Chrome plug-in that can display Google Trends data of search terms in the past 12 months directly on the search results. Whether it is SEO keyword research, PPC, social... and other marketing activities, it can come in handy.
This plug-in also has a nice little function. You can enter a large number of keywords at once and see the volume trend of each word. This is not easy to operate in the Google Trends interface.

Search for "lemon cookie recipe" and you can see Google Trends data directly in the search results.

New "Short videos" carousel slot on search results
A new "Short videos" carousel slot appeared on the search results, including IG limited time updates, Douyin short videos, and YouTube short videos.
It is not yet known whether it is just a short-term test, but inThe fifteenth issue of the e-newsletteronce introduced TikTok’s short video carousel results, and now there is a “Short videos” carousel slot that collects various short videos. In addition, short videos are the current trend in content formats. I think it is worth paying attention to and thinking about how to adapt to this change in advance.

What is the difference in the "request indexing" function after the return?
The "request indexing" function in GSC disappeared for a while at the end of Decemberis back. But some places seem different. Foreign netizen Nick LeRoy conducted an analysis and found the following two points:
1. In the past, about 50 URLs could be submitted every day. Now, only 10~12 URLs can be submitted every 24 hours to reach the quota limit.

2. The speed of submission to the index seems to have slowed down. Among the 12 URLs submitted by the author, only 3 were included within a few minutes, and the others were not included until the next day.

Google My Business performance report renovation
The new report will increase the data provided from 3 months to 6 months. Here, merchants can see the number of interactions (messages, phone calls), and the search terms in which the merchant profile appears.
According to reports, there are still some information that has not been integrated into the new report, such as website clicks, whether it appears on Google search or maps, the number of photo views, etc., but these data can still be found in the old version of the report.

Official announcement: Four changes to GSC index coverage report
These updates are intended to give webmasters a more detailed understanding of possible issues that Google detects when crawling their sites:
- Cancel『Index exception (crawl anomaly)』Category: This category was canceled because the original explanation was too vague, and instead the error was assigned to a more suitable category.
- Pages that have been submitted and indexed, but blocked by robots.txt, will be reclassified to the report "Indexed, but blocked by robots.txt" (warning). In the past, it would be placed in "Submitted but blocked" (error)
- "Indexed, but no content" (warning): The newly added category means that this webpage will appear in the Google index, but for some reason, Google cannot read the content of the webpage.
- Forwarded 404 (soft 404) reporting is more accurate
The original explanation of index anomaly (Crawl Anomaly) in the official document is as follows (it does not give any specific suggestions...) —
There is a retrieval problem with the submitted URL.: You submitted this page for indexing, but Google encountered an unknown crawl error that cannot be attributed to any other reason. Please try using the URL inspection tool to debug your page.
GSC joins "News Performance Report"

It is worth noting thatThis is not the same as the News tab in Google Search. To view data for this tab, go to the Google Search Performance Report and select the 'Google News' search type.
